Pace Bus Dial-a-Ride for seniors and people with disabilities

The township has partnered with Pace to provide Dial-a-Ride service for seniors and disabled persons 16 years of age and older who reside in Shields Township. Registration with the township is required. Once registered, the person may call Pace 24 hours in advance to reserve a ride to anywhere within Shields and to a number of other locations outside Shields Township.

The fare for each trip, one way, is $3. Hours of service are 6 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. Please contact the township directly for more information about service destinations, registration, and how to use the Pace reservation system.

Reduced-Fare RTA Permits

If you are 65 years or older and not enrolled in the Illinois Department on Aging's Benefit Access program, you are eligible for a reduced-fare RTA permit. Apply now at the Shields Township office!

All you need to bring is your drivers license. You'll also need a wallet-size photo of yourself; we can take the picture for $5. Checks and cash are accepted.
